Spirit of the Witch
by Raven Grimassi
Published by Llewellyn Worldwide
Grimassi has outdone himself
this time around, incorporating a unique sense of spirituality, with the
ritual and practices of a grounded pagan. Having trained in the Italian
traditions, Raven pulls from his past to imbibe this work with a strong
sense of commitment to the craft.
With chapters covering the
religion, becoming and tools/rituals, it might appear at first glance like
a standard how-to-be-a-witch type volume. However, upon further
examination, you will find chapters covering areas of the craft you might
not be familiar with yet, such as the Witch in Moonlight/sunlight chapters
which examine the inner and outer working of a witch.
With three appendices added,
covering "training exercises, witches altars, and suggested course
reading", this volume is a fairly complete look at the makings of a
powerful craftsperson.
Raven Grimassi is a practicing
witch and the author of several books on Wicca and Witchcraft, including
the Encyclopedia
of Wicca and Witchcraft, which was awarded Best
Non-Fiction by the Coalition of Visionary Retailers in 2001.
